Welcome to Reflection in Action!

Reflection in Action: building healthy communities™ (RIA) is a two-phase program for Boston and Cambridge 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. Phase one is a city-wide student competition in the written, visual and performing arts; and phase two is a day-long event celebrating healthy living. The program links improvements in individual and community health to engagement in civic action. Reflection in Action involves expanding middle school students’ knowledge about health and public health issues, while at the same time recognizing students’ roles as leaders in the community and providing an opportunity for students to use the arts to express their messages about health. Last year, 23 schools and organizations participated in the contest and over 425 students attended RIA Day.
